How to RULE the World
by Jersey Clifford

I am not writing this article as a recommendation that you should try to conquer the world.  That would be ridiculous.  You, a mere mortal, building an army strong enough to rule the earth?  I think not.  If you knew anything worth knowing, you would know that human beings are near the bottom of the food chain.  There are vampires (which I loathe), shifters and wraiths (both make good servants), and my kind.

I am a werewolf.  Being the first in any species gives you a unique perspective.  Ordinary werewolves are notoriously stupid, some illiterate, and they cannot control their rage.  I, on the other hand, have become quite zen over the centuries.  I can stand back, assess a situation, and know exactly what to do.

The first thing someone in my position needs to do to prepare for taking over the world is to build an army.  Yes, I am turning mortals into werewolves right and left.  They may not be smart, but they are ten times stronger than people.

The second thing I need to do is make a treaty with vampires.  Yes, I know.  It sounds unappetizing, but vampires aren’t all bad.  Take my new friend Jack, for instance.  He may have recently lost his fangs and can’t remember who I am, but he stirs something deep inside of me.  Is it compassion?  Loyalty?  Love, even?  I have no idea.  Doesn’t matter.  When the day comes, I will fulfill my destiny and kill Jack… again.

He is sweetest friend or hardest foe,
best angel or worst devil.
I either hate or love him so.
I can’t merely be civil.

                  Elizabeth Barrett Browning

This is how I feel about him, torn in half.  Part of me wants to save him, while the other part wants to rip into his chest with metallic claws.  Jack would understand the quote above.  He cherishes the written word as much as I do.  Perhaps if I had someone else to discuss literature with, I wouldn’t be that drawn to him.

In any case, my army is nearly done.  I am going to approach the vampires soon.  Together, we will enslave the people.  They will call us master.  They will call us gods.

Official Synopsis:

“Tell Sheffield that Medved is hunting him…the Bear is coming.”

Nearly a month after Lucy Sullivan saved the Donovan Circus from certain death, she discovers that Dr. Felix Hardy wasn’t the only bad guy around. When Lucy is attacked on home ground, Sheffield Donovan reveals that there are bigger foes in their world, gifted that use their powers to kill others – including her own family, as she learns from her ringmaster mentor. Medved, a Russian thug and powerful Shapeshifter, is intent on outing the gifted world and will stop at nothing to succeed.

In order to survive, Lucy and her friends must travel to another show, the Grayson Circus, for help. The uneasy alliance with owner Albert Grayson comes with potential new friends and dark secrets about their competition, including a troublemaker named Mel and an old flame of Lucy’s father. Lucy must also contend with her feelings about Keegan and Gabriel, as well as learn how to contain her rampant emotions or risk setting the entire place ablaze.

Will Lucy be able to save the Donovan Circus again? Or will Medved and his men slaughter everyone in their path on the way to gifted domination?

The 2nd Donovan Circus Adventure: Book Title Reveal

Hello friends! I’m thrilled to announce that this past weekend, I wrapped up the first draft of the second Donovan Circus book. It is in my editor’s hands!! My amazing friend and beta reader Ginny gave it a read and is already harrassing (er, I mean motivating) me for the third installment.

Because I’m so excited about this draft being done and the fact that I made my own self-imposed deadline (seriously, that never happens), I wanted to reveal the new book title to my readers!

BURNED, a Donovan Circus Novel

In Lucy’s second adventure with Sheffield and her friends, there’s a lot more at stake. After an attack, the gang takes a road trip to visit another circus; Lucy must make a choice between Keegan and Gabriel; new characters are introduced; and the big, bad villain is more vicious than Felix could ever be.

I’m so excited to get the book out – I think you’re going to have a lot of fun with it! And now that I’ve finished that story, I’m ready to dive into another story – no time to rest, what are you, nuts? – that will be another NA title with a unique spin on Reapers.

I hope you’re all having a terrific week! I’m off to road trip it to see my BFF (and cover designer) at the beach so we can celebrate her recent marriage…and probably begin to create the cover for BURNED 🙂
