First off, welcome to my updated website! I bit the proverbial bullet and set up my own domain and am already much happier with the control over my site. It’s amazing how smart you can feel after figuring out html code problems. I hope you guys like it!
It’s my 2013 goal to be better at being an author, from writing my own work and learning from previous mistakes to helping promote other authors and bloggers. I can’t wait to share out your exciting news, fantastic books, promote my releases, host contests and maybe even hand out a little advice. This new blog look is sort of my jumpstart into that. Please connect with me on all the social sites – even if it’s just to say hello!
The header image above is one of my favorite photos from when I lived in Nashville, TN. Down at 5 Points, there’s a parking lot with this wall. It’s a huge brick canvas, but the reminder of our teeny tiny existence always struck me when I looked at this particular section. Anyways, I thought I’d show you the full photo:
Aside from the new website, I have other exciting news. The first draft of the tentatively titled Witch Hearts will soon be in the hands of my “editor” (my best friend who was a newspaper editor before going back to school to teach journalism/English) and beta readers. I want to hear their opinions on what works and what doesn’t, but I do have a short list of questions to ask once they’ve read it. I can’t tell if these are problem areas or if the reader would move past without thinking twice and I’m just being nitpicky about my work (which is always the case).
It’s my hope that Witch Hearts will be available for e-readers this spring, depending on how fast edits take. I feel much more comfortable with self-publishing this round so I feel it’s a reasonable deadline. I still have to write out the back cover synopsis but I’m looking forward to connecting with book bloggers again. That might be my favorite part of marketing to meet readers who are so generous with their time and energy. (Knowing there are so many great people out there gives me the warm and fuzzies.)
