Character Interview: Lucy Sullivan, Protagonist

Hi friends! I’ve been doing some thinking over what fun topics I can post on the blog, but I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t had any time to post! Today’s a quickie post, but still something entertaining that I hope you’ll enjoy. If you’ve read Gifted, a Donovan Circus Novel, you’ll already know Lucy is not only a smartass, but kind of a pain in the ass (at least in Gabriel’s and Sheffield’s!). If you haven’t read my book, then I’d love for you to meet our main character and get to know her a little better (and then go read the book to follow her adventures).

Character: Lucy Sullivan, Protagonist
Age: 23
Description: Wavy red hair, hazel eyes, freckles, average height, slim build, smart mouth

Q. First and foremost, what’s your gift and can you explain it to humans?
A. I’m a Firestarter, which means I can create and control fire. All gifts are emotion-based, so we have to be pretty careful not to set anything ablaze. I can do a few tricks, but we can all always use more practice. Apparently there are a few rumors going around that I’m the new alpha Firestarter, but I don’t wanna step on any toes…

Q. Being a female Firestarter is pretty unusual. Do you have any problems with the boys on the grounds?
A. Not as much as I thought. I mean, Keegan and Nikolas (two of the five FS on staff) are pretty cool with it at least. I’m certainly not the ONLY Firestarter woman in our history, but I can understand when I get funny looks.

Q. What’s the most unusual gift you’ve seen so far on the grounds?
A. Hmm…well, I really like Bianca’s Transporter gift. But as far as unusual, I’d probably say it’s this one guy, Angel. He’s an Influencer. You can guess what he does, but it’s definitely unique. Makes me wonder how far he could get in politics…

Q. What’s the most difficult part of being in the Donovan Circus crowd? Performing, being around all the people, the crazy schedule, etc?
A. Uh, well, I’d say right now it’s being accused of murdering one of our own members. Get back to me later for a better answer that doesn’t revolve around my being a supposed killer…

Q. What do you do in your free time between shows?
A. Sometimes I’ll go to the boys’ camper and play video games. Delia (my roommate with a chocolate addiction) likes to drag me to whatever nearby store to buy boxes of cookies. Or our group of friends will just hang out with beers and chat.

Q. What’s your favorite act in the Donovan show?
A. I haven’t seen too much of the show actually, since my job usually revolves outside the tent. From what I have seen, however, I’d probably pick the acrobats. They’re just so beautiful and watching them fly in the air is an amazing thing to see. I still hold my breath every time, even though I know for a fact they never miss.

Q. What’s been the best part of your new life here at the Donovan Circus so far?
A. Oh, god, I dunno. I guess I’d say having such a close group of friends. I was kind of a loner in the human world, so it’s nice to have people to talk to and have fun with.

Q. What do you look forward to most in the coming weeks?
A. That’s an easy one–finding the killer picking off our troupe members and clearing my name (not to mention maybe sizzling the bastard to a crisp). Then maybe working on my own act for the show.

That’s all the time Lucy has for us today. I’ll see if I can’t do some more interviews with other characters from the book this week and next 🙂 Wanna know more about Lucy and her friends, plus their adventures? (And who the hell is killing off their troupe members?) You can read more or buy my book on Amazon here!

Happy Wednesday!
