One of the projects I wanted to do was make a real life comic strip. I’d been wanting to make one for a year or two, but it took a while to come to fruition since it requires a bit of work and good friends. My best friend, Erica, and I finally sat down together to map out what we saw for this project. Being the nerds we are, naturally suggested making a superhero comic strip. There’s nothing we like better than hot superheroes, so why couldn’t we try it out too?!
I ended up taking a couple of the supernatural powers from my own book (so…I plagiarized myself?), though it’s much more sillier and cartoonish in the comic (try bigger and badass in my story…I hope). We wound up with 3 complete books, but I’m still sitting on the last 2 (they still need graphics and to be put together). I’m going to beg my graphic designer bff to finish them for me so I can write them out.
In general, our comics are very tongue in cheek. We know how ridiculous it is but we like it better that way. It’s silly and funny and we had such great people involved with helping us out. Obviously it’s not meant to be taken seriously, as I don’t think Erica and I have laughed so hard in our entire lives like we did the day we went out to take our first set of photos. More on that story to come with the actual comic.
And for the record, yes, we did indeed go out in the city dressed like crazies. I was actually surprised we didn’t get that many strange looks; guess people don’t mind seeing superheroes save their city.
Comic will be up tomorrow for you to see!
